Understanding Certified Fire Doors
Fire doors play a vital role in passive fire protection, preventing the spread of fire and smoke between compartments. UK fire door manufacturers must provide evidence that their doors meet strict fire-resistance standards—commonly referred to as certification.
While third-party certification isn’t legally required under Building Regulations, it provides independent verification of a door’s compliance, covering product specifications, installation instructions, and controlled manufacturing processes.
SFD Group strongly recommends specifying third-party certified fire doors. Our timber doorsets are independently tested in UKAS-accredited facilities and certified under the BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Door Manufacture scheme, offering an extra layer of assurance that doors continue to meet original specifications.
